Christmas Part Deux
I am literally the only person in this train car. In my dozen plus years of riding the MetroNorth New Haven line, this is a first. I am armed with a large can of Red Bull. Will it be enough to fend off an army of 19 relatives? Only time will tell… I am looking forward to the shrimp cocktail and I am wishing I had brought a fifth of rum to go with what will most certainly be non-alcoholic egg...

This was actually one of the first things I cut out of my regular budget. I now do my own nails. Well, most of the time.
Oh yah and I now dye my own hair. Actually, I dyed it back to my natural color and am letting it grow out. One more cost cut.
Go fiscal me.

– Me. Duh. I don’t have conversations with other people.
I know that I focus a lot on the negative (just wait until I write up my rant about HP customer service sometime in the next few days…) but there are still some things that brighten up my day. I need to learn to zone in on those when it all gets to be too much.
It’s the little things, like puppy snores that help me fall asleep like one of those white noise machines. And...
I'm hysterical. In a very sick way.

Maybe I have and I just don’t want you, or anyone else for that matter, to know about it.

My parents were kind enough to drop off my belated birthday gift, an HP wireless printer/scanner/copier that I extremely grateful for.
And, of course, it didn’t work. Something about ink cartridges not being detected. So I spent literally over an hour on the phone with HP tech support during which time I managed to:

According to Hits Daily Double, Brit Brit has now sold 504,507 copies ofCircus and made it to the top of the U.S. album charts!
She’s sold more albums in her first week than Kanye and Beyonce did with their new albums. (via)
I am proud to say that I contributed to this.

I don’t feel so hottt.
My birthday shenanigans left me with one hell of a sore throat and just feeling generally worn down. Thankfully, I have the next week off to recover and I did have an amazing time. Got a chance to get hammered with my good friends. Ate delicious food with the parentals. Was given a mini Christmas tree that will eventually grow to be 15’ tall. (I will make...

made myself a fresh pot of coffee because I deserve better than a mug of the stale stuff
ate a nutritious lunch that I brought from home — healthy and economical
spent 30 minutes before work working on my DBT skills workbook
planned dinner with a friend and seeing as how it is in 15 minute, I actually won’t bail this time
re-planned my birthday so that it is a more manageable...

My karma chameleon is happy.
So I’ve started to turn things around. After all, this past weekend was bottom. I really couldn’t fall much farther than that and survive… Today’s relaxed zen attitude was rewarded by being asked to lunch. I think it was a date. He paid. Listening to Portishead, drinking peppermint tea and snapping a rubberband against my wrist when things get to be too much. Maybe there is...
